You can see this at work in &#8220;real time&#8221; tracking apps for bus and train timetables.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>DISCOVER:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Try out the maps installed on your device. \u00a0You can also download map apps, try the <a title=\"Google map app\" href=\" http:\/\/www.google.com.au\/mobile\/maps\/\" target=\"_blank\">Google Map app<\/a> for example.<\/li>\n<li>Try out the directions functions for different options (walk, drive, public transport). \u00a0What are the directions to your library like?<\/li>\n<li>Google Maps also have indoor maps which include many cultural institutions<a title=\"Libraries to visit with Google Street View\" href=\"http:\/\/ebookfriendly.com\/2013\/03\/22\/10-libraries-to-visit-with-google-street-view\/\" target=\"_blank\"> including libraries <\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>EXPLORE:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a title=\"Foursquare - website\" href=\"https:\/\/foursquare.com\/ \" target=\"_blank\">Foursquare<\/a>\u00a0 is a social media tool that uses GPS to check into locations, there are badges to be earned and the status of Mayor if you check in more times than anyone else \u00a0(see the <a title=\"Bookworm badge - Foursquare\" href=\"https:\/\/foursquare.com\/princesinatra\/badge\/513174dce4b00e1a5f01970f?ref=tw\" target=\"_blank\">Bookworm badge<\/a>\u00a0 and <a title=\"Bookworm badge instructions - Foursquare\" href=\"http:\/\/mattersofgrey.com\/forum\/discussion\/186\/bookworm-badge\/p1\" target=\"_blank\">instructions<\/a> ) \u00a0NB: a number of <a title=\"Other apps - Foursquare\" href=\"https:\/\/foursquare.com\/apps\/\" target=\"_blank\">other apps interact<\/a> with Foursquare<\/li>\n<li>LibraryThing has a free app called <a title=\"LibraryThing - Reader\" href=\"http:\/\/www.librarything.com\/blogs\/librarything\/2013\/02\/new-local-librarything-local-gets-a-redo\/\" target=\"_blank\">Readar<\/a> (it was formerly <a title=\"LibraryThing Local Books - IOS\" href=\"http:\/\/www.librarything.com\/blogs\/librarything\/2010\/01\/local-books-iphone-application\/ \" target=\"_blank\">Local Books<\/a>), with more than 80,500\u00a0 bookstores, libraries and bookish events listed it uses GPS to allow the user to locate nearby venues and literary events<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">Facebook also has a <a title=\"Check in - Facebook\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/help\/174846215904356\" target=\"_blank\">check in<\/a> option<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">There are more useful links on our <a title=\"Pinterest - Maps and checking in\" href=\"http:\/\/pinterest.com\/23mobilethings\/maps-and-checking-in\/\" target=\"_blank\">Pinterest Board<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>THINKING POINTS:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Do you use maps as wayfinding guides inside your library (eg. <a title=\"Univeristy of Virginia Library maps\" href=\"http:\/\/www2.lib.virginia.edu\/edui2011\/#1\" target=\"_blank\">University of Virginia Library<\/a>\u00a0 )<\/li>\n<li>If your library facility is large or spread over several locations does your website or app include maps?<\/li>\n<li>Have you considered geocaching as a library program \/ allowing interaction with the library as a destination (eg. <a title=\"British Library was a geocache of the week\" href=\"http:\/\/blog.geocaching.com\/2011\/10\/the-british-library-gc2m0af-geocache-of-the-week-october-10-2011\/\" target=\"_blank\">British Library<\/a>\u00a0 )<\/li>\n<li>Could you use geocaching as an educational and outreach tool (eg.
